While we were there we did a lot of things so I will be posting about it in several parts.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Steev and Greta\" href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/steevgreta.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-312\" style=\"float: right;\" title=\"Steev and Greta\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/steevgreta-150x112.jpg\" alt=\"Steev and Greta\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" \/><\/a>On our first full day we went to hike in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sabinocanyon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sabino and Bear canyons<\/a> In the Santa Catalina mountains which were conveniently located N.E. of Tucson.  We got there fairly early but it was already getting hot by the time we were on the trail.   Here is Steev and Greta as we started out.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Barrel Cactus\" href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/barrelcactus.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-313\" style=\"margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;\" title=\"Barrel Cactus\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/barrelcactus-150x99.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"99\" \/><\/a>The terrain is fairly rugged, dominated by cactus and other desert flora.  Since it was just after the annual monsoon, the plants were quite green and many were in bloom.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/lizard.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-314\" title=\"Lizard\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/lizard-150x112.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There was also quite a bit of wildlife around, mostly birds and lizards such as this little guy who posed very patiently for us.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/saguaro.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-315\" style=\"margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px; float: left;\" title=\"Saguaro Cactus\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/saguaro-150x112.jpg\" alt=\"Saguaro\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" \/><\/a>Here is a shot of the ubiquitous Saguaro Cactus.  Some of them are huge &#8211; I&#8217;d guess 30 feet tall or more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/sabinocreek.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-316\" title=\"Sabino Creek\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/sabinocreek-150x112.jpg\" alt=\"Sabino Creek\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" \/><\/a>Not all of the canyon is sand and cactus.
