{"id":1502,"date":"2012-02-25T10:57:59","date_gmt":"2012-02-25T16:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/?p=1502"},"modified":"2012-02-25T10:57:59","modified_gmt":"2012-02-25T16:57:59","slug":"radio-contest-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/?p=1502","title":{"rendered":"Radio Contest News (Updated)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font style=\"position: absolute;overflow: hidden;height: 0;width: 0\"><a href=\"http:\/\/xn--h1aafme.net\/\">&#1054;&#1090;&#1082;&#1098;&#1076;&#1077; &#1076;&#1072; &#1082;&#1091;&#1087;&#1103; &#1080;&#1082;&#1086;&#1085;&#1072;<\/a><\/font><font style=\"position: absolute;overflow: hidden;height: 0;width: 0\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ikoni.eu\/\">&#1061;&#1091;&#1076;&#1086;&#1078;&#1085;&#1080;&#1082;<\/a><\/font>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Warning, this is sort of a brag post but I hope you will allow me this bit of vanity.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend (Feb 17-19) was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arrl.org\/arrl-dx\" target=\"_blank\">ARRL International DX Contest, CW<\/a>\u00a0 and, despite chemotherapy on the 16th, I participated.\u00a0 I made a moderately serious effort, mostly to prove that I could.\u00a0 My final results were: 648 <strong>QSO<\/strong>&#8216;s,\u00a0 251 <strong>Countries<\/strong>, &amp; 487,944 <strong>Points<\/strong>.\u00a0 This was approximately 90,000 points fewer than last year but I am still happy, considering my health situation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/ARRL-DX-CERT-2011-PHONE-Update.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1523 alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" title=\"ARRL DX CERT 2011 PHONE-Update\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/ARRL-DX-CERT-2011-PHONE-Update-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Related to this.\u00a0 On that Saturday (Feb 18) I received a large envelope from the ARRL.\u00a0 In it was this certificate for my effort in the <strong>2011 ARRL International DX Contest, Phone<\/strong>.\u00a0 My score in that contest was 739 <strong>QSOs<\/strong>, 277 <strong>Countries<\/strong> &amp; 614,109 <strong>Points<\/strong>.\u00a0 On February 27 I received a second envelope with a updated certificate.\u00a0 It seems that the original contained a printing error which implied my achievement was greater than it actually was.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <del>The certificate is for first place in my category in the ARRL Midwest Division which consists of the states of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.\u00a0<\/del>\u00a0 The corrected certificate is for first place in my category in the state of <strong>Iowa, <\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not the entire division<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0 Still, this is something I am proud of.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next month is the 2012 instance of this contest &#8212; we&#8217;ll see how I do on that one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#1054;&#1090;&#1082;&#1098;&#1076;&#1077; &#1076;&#1072; &#1082;&#1091;&#1087;&#1103; &#1080;&#1082;&#1086;&#1085;&#1072;&#1061;&#1091;&#1076;&#1086;&#1078;&#1085;&#1080;&#1082;&nbsp; Warning, this is sort of a brag post but I hope you will allow me this bit of vanity.
