{"id":1296,"date":"2011-03-28T13:42:34","date_gmt":"2011-03-28T19:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/?p=1296"},"modified":"2011-03-28T13:42:34","modified_gmt":"2011-03-28T19:42:34","slug":"tucson-spring-trip-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/?p=1296","title":{"rendered":"Tucson Spring Trip, Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday morning we drove to Oracle, AZ to tour <a href=\"http:\/\/www.b2science.org\" target=\"_blank\">Biosphere2<\/a> ; a <a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1298\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" title=\"Click to Enlarge\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-1-150x100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>facility created to better understand how natural environments create habitable conditions for human sustainability.<a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1299\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" title=\"Click to Enlarge\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-2-150x100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a> It contains recreations of five of Earth&#8217;s biomes, plus a human habitat and a large ecological <a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1300 alignleft\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" title=\"Click to Enlarge\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-3-150x100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>experiment facility.\u00a0 It is currently managed by the University of Arizona.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tom and Steev even helped with the Green Roof experiment.<a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-4.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1297\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" title=\"Click to Enlarge\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Biosphere2-4-150x112.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After returning to Tucson, we went back to our motel where we swam and sat by the pool (in the shade).\u00a0 Steev and Greta <a href=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/S-G-J-J-T.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1301\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" title=\"Click to Enlarge\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.hise.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/S-G-J-J-T-150x100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>prepared us another great meal that evening.\u00a0 Because we were getting up early the morning to depart, we said our &#8216;good byes&#8217; to all three.<\/p>\n<p>After leaving Tucson, we drove another 1165 miles through two time zones to Bella Vista, Arkansas where we spent three nights with our friends, Joyce &amp; George Sheldon.\u00a0 We arrived back home on Tuesday, March 22, after driving a total of 3240 miles.\u00a0 A good way to &#8216;break&#8217; our new truck in!\u00a0 It was a great trip with lots of beautiful scenery, history, good food, great conversations, and fantastic weather.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday morning we drove to Oracle, AZ to tour Biosphere2 ; a facility created to better understand how natural environments create habitable conditions for human sustainability.
